Yen-Yu (Valen) Chang

Undergraduate Researcher

Yen-Yu (Valen) Chang is an undergraduate student at University of California - San Diego (UCSD) majoring in ICAM: Interdisciplinary Computing and the Arts - Music. Along with two years of studies in Computer Science and a music background, she has been exploring the multidisciplinary field including computer/electronic music producing/performing, audio engineering/recording, programming and so on. Enthusiastic about incorporating artistic and technological elements in her creative works, she has realized the idea in various projects with The Sound Palette (an interactive music making tool) being one of her latest creations.

Valen is currently an intern of the Sonic Arts Research and Development group at Qualcomm Institute of UC San Diego, contributing to VR demo development and showcasing audio spatialization algorithms through Unreal Engine programming. In addition to technical work, she also writes, produces music, and DJ. She is also a former audio engineer intern at the KSDT College Radio Station and former marketing manager at DVC: Deejays & Vinylphiles Club at UC San Diego.
